When looking at current world travel trends, it is an undeniable fact that there is a difference in travelling preferences of the hard-working and family-loving Gen Xers, mostly craving some relaxed time with their loved ones, the digital savvy and off-the-beaten-path loving Millennials, looking for unique destinations and authentic experiences and the one true digital natives with a deep-rooted passion for adventures — Gen Zers, craving life-altering experiences and making meaningful connections. However, despite all their differences, there are a few main characteristics, which bind this diverse but fascinating group of travel enthusiasts together.

  1. Perceiving travelling as an essential part of life

Once, travelling was seen as a luxury, which could only be afforded by the wealthiest few. Luckily, all that has changed over the years and today, travelling has become much more accessible and consequently a vital part of life as building a career or spending time with your loved ones. Whether taking a part-time job to earn some extra money, taking a year off studying to go travelling or finding a career which enables you to work from abroad, people from all generations are willing to go to great lengths in order to satisfy their wanderlust nature and discover all unique destinations which world has to offer.

2. Craving authentic experiences

Travelling is no longer just about going to a beautiful place and visiting its main attractions. Traveller’s today are in search for authentic experiences, often lead by local guides, offering them an exclusive look into the wonders of their everyday life. They want to try cooking their local cuisine, go for a drink at their favourite bar or chill out at their favourite park, all with the purpose to feel the heartbeat of the city they are visiting and to get to know how their citizens live out their day-to-day.

3. Using technology every step of the way

Whether aged 50 or 15, most travellers today use technology at every step of their journey: from seeking travel inspiration on social media, reading reviews from fellow travellers, booking their tickets and accommodation to capturing their travel experiences and sharing them with others. However, even though technology already offers all of the above-mentioned features, they are still scattered all around, costing people time and energy, which they would surely much rather use for all of their travelling adventures. Besides that, people are capturing and sharing all of their amazing travel experiences, helping millions of others in their travelling decisions, but never getting anything in return for their hard work.

Futourist’s mission is to put all the missing pieces together and revolutionize the way we travel by creating a platform, where travel enthusiasts will easily and quickly get their desired information on all things travel and as an extraordinary bonus, be rewarded for all of the valuable contributions they will make to our amazing travel community!

We truly believe we are only as strong united as we are weak divided, so it’s about time we all come together and help create a world where everyone’s needs are met, everyone’s work is fairly paid and everyone’s dreams are turned into a reality.
