FUTRSPRT’s Matt Bowen spoke with TeamSnap CEO Dave DuPont about the company’s mission, it’s massive adoption, and what the future holds. If you know someone who plays an organized sport, odds are you’ve come across TeamSnap. What’s impressive about the app is that it shows no sign of slowing down. It’s Co-Founder Dave DuPont has also lived a fascinating life.

Please tell us a little about your background — where did you spend your career/personal interests before TeamSnap?
“Prior to TeamSnap I spent several decades in leadership roles in the tech industry, specifically in PCs, workstations and computer peripherals. You could say I was worked on the plumbing of the Internet before founding an Internet software company. Before that, I was a petroleum exploration engineer in West and North Africa.”
This interview is just seconds old and all FUTRSPRT can do is ask itself, “What can’t Dave DuPont do?”
He’s impressive, to say the least.
What is TeamSnap? Please tell us about its founding and its mission.
“I founded TeamSnap after being dismayed by the ineffectiveness of communication and coordination on my son’s lacrosse team. I discovered my peers were experiencing the same problem as me and founded TeamSnap to solve it. Our mission remains the same as when we founded the company, we take the work out of play.”
What are some pleasant surprises you’ve discovered and didn’t expect?
“I was delighted to discover how large a market there is for the problem we address, and how many opportunities we have to further serve our customers as we become the dominant way sports organizations of all sizes communicate and coordinate. I have also been delighted by how much customers appreciate what we do for them. When I am introduced in public settings or even if people just spot me wearing TeamSnap-labeled clothing, I am inevitably approached by customers who tell me they, “live in our app,” and how much they appreciate what we do.”
