Hacked to death! Is that humanity’s fate?

An article in the New York Times paints a bleak picture. The “bad guys” seem endlessly capable of besting our best security.

For example, a group called “Shadow Brokers” released powerful hacking tools stolen from the National Security Agency. Ironically, the N.S.A. had developed these tools to boost security by breaking into computers suspected of nefarious activity.

Better security breeds better hacking in endless cycles.

Can we, the “good guys,” ever develop technical systems that are truly foolproof? Probably not. Not when there are so many smart, creative people lacking a path to legitimate success.

We live in ultra-Darwinian, dog-eat-dog times.
