With smartphones becoming bigger parts of our daily lives, we have to aware of the security concerns. Hacking is common mobile devices, and with the increase of information these devices can hold, which can include bank account information, is always a concern.

What is being done

Companies like Apple and Android have added face recognition and even finger print technology to unlock smartphones. They also require you to get a confirmation code sent to your email to log in from a new device.

What can we see in the future

Jupiter Research, a company that provides high performance state of the art solutions, predicts the biggest shift in mobile payment security will be the move toward software-based methods, which rely on standard smartphone components. In the artcile, it said they found that the “use of software-based biometrics, such as that offered by voice or facial recognition, will fuel growth in smartphone mobile payments across all price ranges.” The only obstacle is to persuade consumers to trust their method. This could potentially change the game of how businesses can exchange payment. Whether it is a small business paying its workers, or receiving payment from customer, they want the essurance it can be done quicker and easier, and most importantly safer.

The future of smartphones is centered about the security, and game changers like this one are key for the future development of these devices.
