Busting the Myths of the Future of Work: Why Purpose Matters Deeply
Start with caring deeply; structure will follow. When you integrate who you are, why you are here and who you create and co-create with, you won’t need to focus on your brand. All you will need is to find the people on your edge (customers, partners, employees, citizens and communities) and provide value with purpose.
It’s time for conversations and deep connections. Relationships between us matter like no other time in history. Purpose can no longer be squandered as we bring common sense and humanity back to our lives because we recognize that people matter more than work. What we create as a collective in an open and connected world and is filled with opportunities and possibilities. Imagine if you can bringing people together to imagine and create instead of solve problems. What would happen then?
Purpose matters deeply. It is not to be commoditized as another fad. The best work happens when people care deeply about what they are creating. Imagine a world where people know their purpose and can go create with others and organizations who share what is deep in our souls. What would we create then?
This is not theory or fantasy. Amazing pioneers like Shamini Dhana are creating purpose in our world through their creations. Don’t you want every child on the planet to know the hands and hearts that go into every piece of clothing they wear? Don’t we want them to care deeply about themselves, each other and the planet?
It’s time for us to bust the myths of the future of work by opening us up to possibilities. Let’s stop having the same conversations and starting with structure, models and frameworks. The opportunity is to start with questions and bring people together in conversation. Let’s start recognizing that to be brave we must consider that too often safe is risky. Let’s value our precious time by making conscious decisions of who and what gets our mindful time. Let’s bring back our abundant curiosity and sense of adventure. It’s time.
In the 21st century, we are all leaders. There are no followers. And as leaders, we create and co-create with deep purpose and meaning.
Our ability to connect with each other in old and new ways is the biggest untapped opportunity available to each of us. Our world is a web of people who can connect to each other, leaving old advertising models in the dust. New organizations like Geniecast make it easy for business leaders to bring in people to have conversations with your people in new ways and also be mindful about our planet at the same time.
What will you create today? A conversation, a connection, a feeling? What sparks and ignites you to our shared purpose in this lifetime?
