SUMMARY OF: II -Might Works and Wonders, Chap9 -First Angels, section 34

“STAR OF EPIPHANY” — by Omar Fink 2019

[this is a series of summaries extracted from the novel]

At the San Marcos Platform, in Kenya, Marco Lagorio receives a v-mail from Lewis “Sonny” Barton on Hab-1 in the asteroid belt. Sonny discusses the need for improved safety measures and rescue operations in space. He describes the current habitat construction, mining operations, and safety challenges. Sonny requests support for more rescue stations, faster rescue craft, staff training, and facility support. Marco responds positively, offering his support and expertise in habitat design.

In Zurich, Switzerland, Ulrich Giger leads a meeting at AGT discussing progress in space elevator construction and habitat rings. They’ve built 60 space elevators, lifting 1.5 million people per month, with 11 million total in space. Challenges include strengthening elevator cables, improving efficiency, and addressing the remaining 10–15% of humanity reluctant to leave Earth. They discuss using the TYCHE AI system to help solve problems.

In Liberty Hill, Texas, Zorba Omega meets with Professor Morgan at a local restaurant. They discuss the Professor’s work on the Directed Matter Junction (DMJ), which has been stalled due to lack of approval and resources. Zorba offers to use his connections with HU (likely Humanity United) to get approval for the DMJ project. Zorba also offers access to a highly advanced, private computing system to assist with the Professor’s work.
