SUMMARY OF: II -Mighty Works and Wonders, Chap12 -Resistance, section 42

“STAR OF EPIPHANY” — by Omar Fink 2019

[this is a series of summaries extracted from the novel]

Marco Lagorio explains progress of the migration at the six year point to Lee Martin: around 400 space elevator cables have been completed, over 25 million people are being lifted into space per month, a total of 300 million people lifted so far, the goal is to lift over 8 billion people within 4 years, but they’re behind schedule, about 4 ring habitats are being completed per month, 80 habitats finished, with a total capacity of at least 400 million people. Marco explains that while he oversees habitat design aspects, different teams handle space engineering, architecture, and interior decoration. Habitats feature dynamic, changeable environments and decorations, and personal quarters can be customized with various themes. He continues to describe a habitat’s interior, including shops, cafes, and restaurants, how changes in human motivation in space are compared to Earth. He mentions diminished pressures related to finances, career, and social status, and an observation that Earth governments have less influence in space.

Delize Naidu is teaching Keel O’Donnell Aikido techniques. They compare techniques of Aikido with Ju-Jitsu and Krav Maga and discuss Aikido philosophy and its application beyond physical conflict.

Nabith Mehra is showing Delize and Keel work with a real-time asteroid tracking system. He mentions tools for analyzing changes in orbital trajectories and discusses the comet train’s impact on asteroid trajectories.

News reports on attacks by the Resistance group against ground installations feeding HU elevators. They have used mortar attacks on schools and health care facilities, causing casualties. The group claims the comet threat is a fraud.

Former Air Force General Bill Decker is observing a cyber operation with a detailed explanation of tracking and infiltrating the Resistance’s network and preparation for shutting down their system and making arrests.
