The Monday Lament: Rule by Chaos
As if we had a choice
We are getting a remedial lesson in chaos. Donald Trump is the figurehead of chaos, augmented with willful ignorance, hubris, and stupidity. As a nation, we did not learn that lesson well enough the first time Trump stumbled into power as a joke.
As should be very clear now, Trump is irrelevant. He is a very troubled and now senile old man, but the darkest forces in American society have incorporated his years of practice at spreading chaos, bigotry, and hatred.
He considers himself king only because he is allowed to be a distraction. Trump fills the needs of the tech bros and aging oligarchs who realize they no longer have time to expand their hoards while building their remote fortresses.
If this surprises you, I am surprised you are here reading this. People caught in the web of chaos, racism, and the elements of fascist rule are addicted to layers of poisons and delusions that constitute the 21st-century world.
After years of historical analysis and study, the best way to understand the social disease that destroys cultures is to understand that even if the culture survives and recovers, it takes several generations to expunge the guilt and shame. For many, the addiction never ends and will periodically resurge.
