And expected

I miss seeing normal people in positions of authority. Incompetence is expected. As George Carlin once said, “Think about how dumb the normal person is, then realize that half the population is dumber than that.” But mildly incompetent is not raving, bat shit crazy.

We are fixated on lines being crossed, but we have not just crossed the line into national insanity; we couldn’t even find that line again if we wanted to go back. I’m afraid that insanity now comes with a side of stupidity, like free fries.

Answering the question of how we got into this situation is, itself, beyond our abilities. It is, now, just the way things are. No one can imagine having a national government not staffed with criminals and howling idiots.

I miss sanity as something that isn’t breathtakingly rare. There were once days, weeks, even months when the president of the United States didn’t gibber insanely or casually commit international crimes.

Now, if we describe someone who is stunningly ignorant, bat shit crazy, and senile, everyone knows we are talking about the leader of the United States. However, if you read our traditional national media, you would never know that they are talking about the same person.
