In just the past 10 years, the way we research and gather information for everything in life has changed dramatically. From what coffee to buy to what college we should attend, everything has changed. It’s never going to be the same.

Google search is the new trusted friend.

Here is a google trend over the past 10 years for “what college should I go to?” & “what degree should I get?”

You can see since 2007 an increasing trend in queries. Google search is the curator of all questions and answers.

This graph is the increasing trends of of search term “Do I have cancer?” from 2005 to date it’s a steady rise. The starting place of knowledge is now the google search bar.

We are never going back.

It used to be people vs. people to establish authority. You ask a close friend, then someone who you felt had knowledge in the area you were exploring. We pit people against people in the quest for knowledge. Now, it’s people vs. the web. The web usually wins.
