The Future is Present Exhibition / Denmark
The Library of Change
We all play a role in shaping the future through the decisions we make and the actions we take.
Climate crisis, refugee flows, surveillance, and pandemics are pressing issues requiring urgent action. We must use our resources more wisely, reduce consumption, share resources more fairly, and ensure everyone has a voice. Change is inevitable, but what will our world look like in 10 or 20 years?
We face numerous challenges and opportunities. The key question is: What kind of world do we want? Our current choices and designs will shape our future. But what does good design mean for the future?
Recently I visited the Copenhagen’s Design museum to see their latest exhibition — THE FUTURE IS PRESENT which covers three main themes: Human, Society and Planet+. The exhibition’s title reminds us that the future isn’t abstract or distant. It’s happening now, starting now, and we all play a role in shaping it through the decisions we make and the actions we take.
The “Library of Change” installation offers glimpses of change signals, emerging trends, new technologies, shifting values, and evolving geopolitical landscapes. It invites you to explore a living map of what’s emerging in our societies, prompting questions and reflections about our collective future.
