First officer, Mikar, wakes with a headache after drinking too much wine the night before. She’d turned to the bottle after failing to find a cure for her infected clone sisters.

But clones are disposable, and the Captain was quick to issue a terrible order.

Afterwards, the Captain and Mikar venture onto the surface of the planet to explore, and meet Grey Cut, the alien who attacked the crew. Grey Cut ask for Company technology. The Captain suggest an exchange of daughters.

“Take Mikar,” said the captain, pushing me forward.

“She has value to you?” asked Grey Cut. The tentacles moved over me, trying to assess my worth.

“Yes. Mikar has some value. She’s not like the others. She’s been with me ten years now. She is like a daughter to me.”
