Dolphins at Lovina Bali

Phone alarm was ringing at 4.30 AM to wake us up. We opened our eyes, woke up from bed without any difficulty, packed our snorkeling gear and stuffs. While we were packing, i was imagine i could woke up easily on working days.

We ate a small bread before heading to “Lovina” harbor. We booked a small boat to enjoy sunrise on the sea and accompanied by dolphins then continue for snorkeling (Package price was 200k /person). Dolphins does not always appear, it depends on your luck, so just try our luck. Along the way to harbor, i was surprised Bali people is a morning people, they went to side street to prepare sell fresh vegetables, fruits, etc. So at 5.30 AM we arrived at the harbor and boat captain prepared and warmed up the engine. A lot of tourist went to harbor for the sake of dolphins.

Boats on Lovina beach

The skies still little bit dark but we applied sun block cream to some parts of our body include face, we jumped to the boat and ready to go. After a 15 minutes the sun start rise and shine the sea and wow the water is so clear and blue. We keep going to the middle to see dolphins. We turned off the engine and wait for dolphins appeared, but dolphins were playing us. When we stop, dolphins appeared from other far side, we want to that side but they disappeared. It was happened for almost 45 minutes we can’t see dolphins nearby us. The captain had an idea, so we went further to the east side. Finally along the way to the east side, dolphins swam in a group beside our boat. Wow this is my first experience watched dolphins on the sea beside my boat and there was different kind of dolphins appeared, the grey and the pink.

The skies become clearer, the sun become brighter and hoter, we re-applied sun block cream. After dolphins seeing we went to snorkeling spot, but there was not too much tourist, the water was quite clear for snorkeling but i heard “Menjangan Island” is the best for snorkeling. We prepared our gear and jumped to water and brought a pieces bread to attract fishes.

After 1 hour snorkeling, we went back to harbor, cleaned up our self and went back to villa. At villa we still had time to rest before packed up our luggage to checked out. Short story, at 11.00 AM we checked out and continue our journey to South Bali but we used different route from arrival route. This route was heading to Kintamani lake, Batur mountain, Ubud, etc. This time we had lunch randomly on the way this route.

It was close enough to 2 PM, we took our time to stop by at “Kintamani Restaurant Grand Puncak Sari 2”. The view from the restaruant’s deck is highly conducive to had a second lunch, but it was a buffet menu, so we ordered juice and tea.

After 1 hour enjoying the view, we continue hit the road to “Tirta Empul” temple, we took around 30 minutes. The place was famous as a holly sprint water. All visitors who didn’t wear long pants must wear “sarong” from them. The temple area was quite big, many tourists come to try the pond of holy spring water. Me and El didn’t try the holy spring water, so we walked around the temple and took pictures. There were some gift shops around the exit way and they all sold Bali handicraft with a surprise price, you have to haggle with lower price.

Holy Spring Water

It was close to 6 PM, me and El went back to car and waited for our friends, they were still inside the temple tried holy spring water. Finally after 45 minutes waiting, we continue our road trip to Sanur (our last destination in Day 2). The last route before Sanur was Ubud, we spent time in Ubud only for dinner at “bebek tepi sawah” restaurant. The restaurant was very big with rice field at the backyard. About food, this is the best restaurant for fried duck, but not only that, Fish also best here. We enjoyed the food so much, even i ordered fried duck and an additional grill fish. “Did i feel hungry or greedy?”

It was almost 8:30 pm when we leaved the restaurant. On our way to Sanur while everybody feel a sleep, i negotiate our driver to rent his car for 2 days on the next 2 days with a special price and short story we arrived “Griya Penginapan” at 9:00pm. The placed was quiet, decent, and best value (only 200k / night). The hardest thing in this villa was the stair steps was very high so made us little bit tired especially with our big and heavy luggage.

We say goodbye to our driver thank you for accompanied us for 2 days and we continue to our rooms to sleep the sleep of happy travelers, and to dream of adventures we had yet to experience.
