Oct 2015: I bid adieu to my stable professional job in New York City and faced a classic decision — look for another full-time job or take time off to travel and freelance.

I chose door #2 and became a digital nomad in Bangkok in January. It was a scary yet exhilarating decision and I’m writing to you now to share my experiences and hopefully motivate you to do the same!

This is one of the two mass transit systems in Bangkok — the subway, the MRT. It’s more of a commuter train than the BTS skytrain, which takes you to more of the tourist attractions and city centers. People are generally well behaved and there are no mysterious liquids or “showtime” performers.
Drag show in Bangkok (naturally). The queen on stage wearing the white unitard is Candy, a legendary performer and honestly kicks the shit out of most drag queens in NYC (she somersaulted down the stairs).
Tried unsuccessfully to convince a boutique clothes store owner to sell me her painting #NewYorkCityBoy
Ballon man
Street food is huge in Bangkok and my neighborhood (Sathorn) is no exception. This woman is selling dumplings, pork, and noodles in soup. For $1!
To motivate myself, I frequent coffee shops to get most of my work done. Luckily the coffee culture is Bangkok is burgeoning. Here are a few of my favorites (From top left: Rocket Bar, Pacamara, Kaffee by li-bra-ry, Zeno Cafe, and tokyobike)
And of course, there’s lots of fun to be had #GaysInBangkok ;)
