Farewell United

It’s not you, it’s me

We’ve had a good run, you and I. So many trips together. To so many beautiful and interesting places. We’ve been around the world and back. Hundreds of thousands of miles. And today I have to tell you that I’m leaving you. I’ve found something better. Something very American.

I want you to know it’s not you, it’s me. We’ve both grown so much over the years. You’ve gotten bigger and very Continental. And I’ve gotten busier with work. We don’t even like to go to the same places. We just don’t have that much in common anymore.

Do you remember when we used to surf the Internet together on flights for hours and hours? Everything just worked. It was wonderful. I miss that. You don’t want to be on the Internet anymore. Every flight you tell me it just isn’t working for you. The seats! Do you remember the way those seats used to feel? So soft and comfy. But we’ve gotten older. And now after hours of sitting, staring out the window without WiFi, our bottoms hurt.

I think back to the amazing perks we enjoyed. Before you got so big and important with your Continental friends. We’d sit in first class all the time, drinking wine, laughing and falling in love somewhere over the Atlantic.

But no more.

Now, I have to move on. I have to say goodbye. I’m leaving you for an American. It’s what I need. It’s everything I need. I wish you the best of luck. I hope you find your special someone to be with forever.

All my love,
Jason
