Pigalle has transformed from one of the most dodgy neighborhoods to one of the most modern, trendy areas in Paris.
It’s crazy to think that in the 19th century, Pigalle was the place to go for all things sex-related. There were no shortages of brothels, erotic shows, and sex shops. Throughout the years though, the debauchery has been vanishing and making room for some of Paris’ most stylish bars and restaurants.

But perhaps one of the most remarkable changes in Pigalle is in the southern tip. South Pigalle, known as SoPi, is essentially Paris’ NYC inspired district. In restaurants like Buvette and Rose Bakery, you’ll find brick walls and Instagram-worthy food that’ll make you feel like you’re in Manhattan.
If you walk down SoPi streets like Rue de Martyrs, you can find some of the city’s best pastries and bakeries.
In Pigalle, even something as simple as a burger joint is still unexpectedly modern and trendy, like at Le Deppaneur.
You can also find some of the city’s best coffee in places like KB Cafe. This place is typically filled with young, fashionable tourists and bloggers enjoying the specialty coffee drinks or taking a break from shopping in the many boutiques around the area.
In short, Pigalle today is a central, vibrant, modern gem of Paris.
