Elijah, 18, Future-U Youth Advisor:

“I can only speak from my own personal experience but one of the biggest struggles I had in my education was not being engaged or interested in the material on offer. I couldn’t see the link between what I was learning and real tangible life skills that would actually benefit me and help me as a person. current education focuses far too much on literacy and numeracy skills (Not to discount their importance) and not enough on problem solving, creative thinking, self reflection, artistic endeavors, philosophy (in a practical way that isn’t extremely lofty) empathy for others, good social skills and manners etc etc

I guess what i’m trying to say is our current education system focuses far too much on ticking boxes and making its student follow homogenized standards then actually creating caring, thoughtful, intelligent members of society.”
