I go to conventional gym where there are several sophisticated machines for workout. Recently, I have heard about crossfit from friends and wondered how crossfit is different from the remaining gym. So, I follow x60 crossfit, Hyderabad, on Instagram to get myself updated with their workout routines. One day, I got an invitation from x60 crossfit, Hyderabad , India, for trial of 1 week which was free, thank you so much for the opportunity. I thought it was a golden chance for me to experience the CROSSFIT WORLD. I attended only 3 days due to inconvenience in my timing. But my experience of three days was sufficient enough to understand how crossfit workouts are so effective.

Uniqueness of Crossfit:

I was surprised the moment I entered the box, it was a big hall with no machine, only bars, plates, dumbbells, kettlebells piled in its own racks, a few stools and boxes but no machines. Unlike gym, crossfit has certified coaches who teach a group of people in batch wise. The coach gives a demonstration about the movement of the exercises and let the clients practice for few minutes in the coach’s radar. When the clients get the correct movements, the game starts with Workout Of the Day (WOD). The workout timing is exactly one hour in x60 crossfit. The intensity within an hour is so high that it drains all of our energy for the following few more hours, literally. It was not possible for me to ride vehicle just after the workout, you will need 15–20 minutes to regain the strength to go back home.

What I learnt from crossfit are listed:

  • Low weight, high intensity workouts with no break of even single second, were the ones that can tear you apart slowly. When you pause workout for a deep breath during WOD, coach is there for you to remind that you are not pushing to your limit.
  • The calories you burn in conventional gym during 1 hour may not even reach the level you burn in 8 minutes with crossfit’s pattern of exercises unless you do High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) or cardio for atleast 25 minutes.
  • Now, you don’t have the luxury to skip the exercise which you hate. It’s a part of the WOD.
  • Crossfit surprises you each day with their different set of exercises in WOD. It never gets bored.
  • Their exercises engage each muscle of the body, and as I told that you can’t skip it.
  • King of the killers are AMRAP (As Many Rep/Round As Possible) and EMOM (Every Minute On Minute).
  • Coaches are highly trained, fully motivated, full-time employees with keen intellect.
  • For beginner like myself, weights are scaled down to our strength. No need to feel daunted, every one has to start from some point.
  • Have you ever sweated like a pig?

Note : Getting Fitter and Healthier are guaranteed with the amount you put effort.

In Gym:

  • How much certified is the personal trainer?
  • How much trained is he?
  • Is he a professional workout trainer or a part-time job seeker?
  • Does he talk about nutrition other than Protein Supplement?
  • Does he know who should take protein supplement or who need not?
  • In case, you don’t have personal trainer, are you motivated enough to bring a change to yourself?
  • Do you push yourself to the level your organs and body parts start screaming? Still, you let it scream, no mercy is shown. Ever happened?

Staying in comfort zone will not make any changes that we desire.

How I got the free trial

There was a video post with caption that asked the name of exercise in x60 crossfit Instagram profile. My correct answer earned a free trial of 1 week 😃.

Guys, if you are motivated enough to do the hard work alone, go for it! Otherwise we need motivation and push from trainers. If you feel that their membership fee is high, that’s understandable. But if you can afford it, I really recommend because investing money on our health is something we should start soon. If my opinion makes sense, I would love to see your appreciation 👏 .
