Speculative Now: Intervention Design for the post-coronavirus world

Over the past ten weeks, students of the Communications and Multimedia Design (CMD) department of the Maastricht Academy of Media Design and Technology (MAMDT) participated in the course Intervention Design. The results are shared in this article.

The art academy in Maastricht (ABK) is famous for its focus on the crafts of art. Although concepts are essential, ABK thinks that an emphasis on crafts will make students better artists. MAMDT is a part of the art academy and houses two applied arts departments: Visual Communication and CMD. Both not only focus on crafts but also on the more significant impact artists have on their surroundings and the world. That is a unique position. MAMDT’s CMD is the only national department for media design that is so strongly focussed on the macro-level of design.
