The word “draft” has various meanings. A draft is a preliminary version of an article or picture. It’s a current of fresh air, which makes it easier for you to breathe. It’s the part of a ship you can’t see because it lies below the water’s surface. It’s what you do when you want to get someone into a team. You issue a draft for the payment of money at a bank. And of course, you can also enjoy a draft beer. These meanings — except the last one — are metaphors for the true power of design: Helping you envision possibilities you can test and act on.
Design is not only about creating better products, services, and systems. Design can also help you get projects unstuck. It enables strategic acceleration and supports the exploration of new markets or clarify your current market orientation. It can breathe new life into your business model, or allow you to explore entirely new ones.
