What is Ethical Meat and Sustainable Proteins Tasting?
Exploring the future of gastronomy with a flyer as a Design Fiction artifact
I have been exploring how creativity and innovation are shaping the future of food and how gastronomy can play a role in addressing some of the planet’s biggest challenges. In previous work, I co-created a fictional map that speculates on the different stalls, shops, and services that might emerge in the near future at San Telmo Market, an iconic landmark in Buenos Aires.
In this follow-up exploration, we zoom into the Shared and Lab Kitchen of the San Telmo Market. I imagine that space as a focal point where tradition and innovation harmonize and where organizations like the Ethical Cuisine Coalition (ECC) would typically gather to redefine the local culinary culture and transcend the boundaries of taste and ethics.
I designed a flyer as a Design Fiction artifact to speculate on how producers, scientists, and innovators might shape the future of meat. Made out of recycled cardboard, the flyer invites locals to participate in an Ethical Meat and Sustainable Proteins Tasting event of the ECC. Here is what participants might expect according to the flyer:
