Samantha Bee’s This Is Not A Game

Comedian Samantha Bee is doing her share to ensure America is ready for the November 6th midterm elections.

On her September 12th episode of TBS’ Full Frontal with Samantha Bee, she introduced her new political trivia game, This Is Not A Game: The Game, which beckons players once a day to answer 10 rapid fire questions about democracy for a chance to win cash prizes of up to $5,000. To cash out, players simply need to link their PayPal account.

The game was developed in collaboration with Win the Future, a voter initiative backed by Zynga founder Mark Pincus, LinkedIn founder Reid Hoffman, and former Sierra Club president, Adam Werbach.

The non-partisan app’s goal is to increase voter registration, engagement, and turnout, and welcomes all parties including Democrats, Republicans, Green Party, even Crypto Libertarians.

The look and feel of the game is based on the hit mobile game, HQ Trivia, and features scheduled events, live action video, and highly charged, real time multiplayer sessions. If TBS is successful in building a mobile audience with this model, we might see them try this framework with brand integrations and other popular tv series. Finally the future of television, gamified!

At a panel during the Turner upfronts last May, Bee said she was surprised to learn that 48% of her audience had not registered to vote.

According to the Pew Charitable Trusts, the last midterms in 2014 had one of the lowest turnouts in history,

The stakes are much higher this time as all 435 seats in the U.S. House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 seats in the U.S. Senate are up for grabs. Democrats need only 24 seats in the House and 2 seats in the Senate to flip the power in Congress.

Stay woke, America!

This Is Not A Game: The Game is available on iOS and Android. Next chance to win big is 3pm PT tomorrow.
