In mid 2015, 3 scrappy boys in their early 20s were building an app called Frapp for India’s students. We hated going for sales meetings and decided with pressing urgency, that a good sharp sales rep is the most important need of the hour.

Enter Sri. His interview was unlike any other interview we had taken till then. He walked in with a folder of printouts on what he felt we should be doing, what we were doing wrong and which businesses we should target. I think the decision was made in 30 seconds, and I remember speaking about this with Armaan.

We came to know later that Sri, a recent MBA grad, had job offers from a few top startups that were probably paying him at least 5x of what we could offer but chose to work with us, much to the disappointment of his family. From day 1, his contribution has been above and beyond what we could hope for.

His role has grown from driving sales to driving culture across the organization. The last 18 months have been particularly difficult at Futwork. We ran into roadblocks with term sheets being pulled right at the onset of the pandemic, and committed to a pivot and rebuild from scratch.

Through this, Sri has played a pivotal role — not once in the 6 years of working with him has he ever expressed doubt, concern or worry for the future. That alone is a stellar quality to have from your first team member. He has been a pillar of support for all the team members, including the founders, and has been instrumental in ideation of the pivot as well as helping us grow 10x from where we were in January. It seems unfair to let Sri continue as the VP of Sales, for clearly his contribution is way beyond. With that in mind, we believe it was the right time to acknowledge his contribution.

From August 2021, Sri will be the cofounder of Futwork.
Congratulations Sri, and we’re as excited to welcome you onboard today, as we were that first time.

Best
Armaan and Niranjan
