Burberry Prorsum A/W 2014

As London Fashion Week 2017 draws near, Burberry have announced that its next show will be held in collaboration with fine arts charity, the Henry Moore Foundation. The brand will return to the Makers House, a fashion and craft pop-up celebrating British craftsmanship, to showcase its new season. The show will follow in the tradition of other Burberry shows and include acoustic music performances as well exhibit the works of the late Henry Moore, with the collection also directly drawing inspiration from the artist’s work.

Burberry is a clear leader in the practice of combining its fashion with other forms of art like music and fine art. Burberry campaigns remain proudly British and captivate fashionistas and patriots alike by showcasing both classic British supermodels models alongside newer generation talent equally making strong waves in the industry. Consumers will surely appreciate Burberry’s effort to stay firmly authentic to its British roots. Both the Naomi Campbell & Jourdan Dunn and Kate Moss & Cara Delevingne campaigns strike a beautiful chord reflecting Britain’s diversity in fashion.

Shows and campaigns consistently include prominent British musicians throughout the creative process of each campaign, with Burberry often sourcing talent from The BRIT School alumni. Tom Odell and Paloma Faith’s respective performances for the F/W 13 Womenswear show as models graced the catwalk were nothing short of a majestic occasion. The likes of Joss Stone, James Bay and George Barnett have also featured in previous campaigns.

The Mr. Burberry fragrance campaign saw beautifully shot scenes by Oscar-winning director Steve McQueen accompanied by the soothing voice of Benjamin Clementine, just to name a few personal favourite campaigns in recent Burberry history. The house certainly makes a strong point in choosing to use only British models and musicians in each of their campaigns.

Possibly NSFW.

Burberry Acoustic is yet another prime example of how the label successfully collaborates with artists to continue capturing music married to high fashion in the digital age, avoiding the high-publicity geared influencer marketing tactics adopted by fashion brands today. Until another venerable fashion house can execute such meaningful collaborations with other art forms with perfect synergy, Burberry is certainly pioneering the way and showing how it ought to be done. Watch some of the magical collaborations here.
