I ran 11 miles

Yesterday, I ran 11 miles and I’m still tired.

This was a killer run, it reminded me how far I am from running a half marathon (anytime soon). One thing I’ve released is that it often takes me 3 miles to get comfortable but then sometimes after 3 miles I’m maxed out. I don’t feel like I’m improving well enough, still struggling with energy; one thing that stops me from being effective from being an effective runner is energy. How does one have great energy throughout a long run but eat lightly before one? Is this due to my diet generally? If you have answer to these questions let me know! I’m now also looking at my running technique so I can be more economical with my running. It’s very important I limit the energy each stride takes!

Getting that out the way, it was a thrilling run, discovering new places along the way there, the newly built buildings in Greenwich to the urban environment in Poplar, the contrast was stark. Running to Stratford took an extreme effort, got lost a few times but never lost track (pretty cool metaphor there).

Amazing run honestly but man, I have a new found respect for long distance runners, 5K, 10K are not easy. I still struggle with running 3+ miles without having a break for a few minutes for a breather. For instance throughout this run there were countless times I had to stop, struggling to break that barrier. I can’t wait I’m able to run a half marathon without stopping, I hope I’m on my way. Watching some Michael Jordan clips and a documentary reflecting on his career fired up my competitive energy, makes me want to break that barrier even more so. The next step for me now is to be able to run a 10K without stopping.

When I did manage to get there, this was the first time I’ve been to the Olympic Park since the 2012 Olympics. It reminded me of the Teletubies to be honest with you, it’s construction is a beauty, the buildings surrounding and inside the park is beautiful and the grass is a perfect green. I need to spend more time there, it’s nice man, very.

But yeah that was my weekend! I’m writing this blog on my phone, as (you guessed it) I’m without my laptop still. My grammar is pretty awful, sentence structure more than likely awful but hey at least I’m writing, right? Haha.

If you have any advice pertaining to running, let me know!

I need help with;

  • Running technique
  • Energy levels
  • Long distance running
