Client

The UNC Health Care System is a not-for-profit integrated health care system, owned by the State of North Carolina and based in Chapel Hill. It exists to further the teaching mission of the University of North Carolina and to provide state-of-the-art patient care. Specialized patient care services include the Breast Center, Cardiovascular Program, Diabetes Care Center, Lung Center, Rehabilitation Center, Spine Center, Wound Management Program and Comprehensive Transplant Center.

Challenges & Opportunities

  • No consistent mechanism for physicians to record patient information/notes.
  • Extremely tedious maintenance of patient records, prescriptions and history.
  • Access control and compliance with HIPAA standards.
