Congratulations to Mautic on the sale of the company to Acquia, the open source digital experience company. We’re excited for founder and CTO David (DB) Hurley, CEO Matt Johnston and the entire Mautic team and are particularly happy to see two Boston-based companies with strong open source underpinnings come together.

Our partnership with Mautic dates back to early 2016 when we co-led the company’s seed financing with our friends at Underscore VC. While seed investments are outside of our Series A sweet spot, we were immediately attracted to DB’s passion for the project and his ability to create a community that had built fully open marketing automation platform deployed with 30,000 customers and 20+ countries. We invested in the seed with the full intention of co-leading the Series A, and worked with DB to bring Matt on in early 2017. The company then extended the platform’s open core with traditional SaaS-based components that made the platform truly enterprise-ready. The Mautic platform now has more than 250,000 users across 188 countries with a rich community of contributors that provide an agility unmatched by traditional proprietary platforms.

We expect to see great things out of the Acquia/Mautic combination (for more on that, see here.) Together they have the scale, business model and team to become one of Boston’s foundational companies. We’re glad to have been a part of that journey.

Congratulations!
