Congratulations to the Siemplify team on the sale of the company to Google, announced today! Siemplify will be joining the Google Cloud organization where their industry-leading SOAR (Security Orchestration, Automation and Response) platform will become a key component in Google’s vision for the delivery of Automated Security Operations.

We joined co-founders Amos Stern, Garry Fatakhov, and Alon Cohen in this journey when we co-led Siemplify’s Series A financing in November, 2016. After the financing, Amos and Garry moved from Israel — where the company was started — to New York as they began to build the company’s go-to-market team. Alon has remained in Tel Aviv for the duration, leading the technology team as CTO. I’m sure Amos and Garry spent many cold NY winter evenings envious of Alon’s life on the Mediterranean! Managing across continents in the early days was certainly aided by the strong founder relationships and leadership in both locations.

The Siemplify team succeeded in building the market leading independent SOAR platform, eventually becoming the leader in cloud deployment of SOAR. Their strategic focus on the cloud turned out to be prescient. The team had a clear path to continued growth, aided by an emerging set of strong channel partnerships. As so often happens, it was these partnering discussions that eventually led to M&A interest. In the end, it was the unique attractiveness and strategic alignment of joining the Google Cloud team that swayed the founders toward the acquisition. The deeper interaction with the Google team around integration plans only strengthened the team’s conviction that it offered the right path forward.

Mazel Tov!

I’d like to thank the Siemplify team for the opportunity to work with them, and for achieving this fantastic outcome for everyone involved. For me personally this was an opportunity to grow, as our board meetings gave me the chance to spend time in Israel and connect with its thriving startup community. The connections I made there led to our investment in Bonobo (acquired by Salesforce,) and to relationships with great entrepreneurs and capital providers I’ll be staying in close touch with. As we often say… it’s the people that matter in this business, and I’m as happy for the people who made this happen as I am excited about the dividends this investment and this experience will continue to pay over the years to come.
