UX Portfolio Study: Christina Richardson
Let’s take a look at Christina Richardson’s stellar portfolio and target the design elements of C.R.A.P. — Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity.
Contrast
Christina’s portfolio is laid out all on one page and it’s easy to spot different sections thanks to her use of Contrast. The main visual element separating each section is rotation between a white and textured grey background like the rows of a spreadsheet, only more glamorous.
Repetition
Focus is kept throughout her portfolio by conscientious Repetition. A sans serif font and simple color palette are used consistently and give a sense of continuity as you navigate the page.
Alignment
Alignment is the most uniquely used part of C.R.A.P. on this portfolio. The choices in alignment appear to be tailored for each section and make sense. Because they are different, they are not consistent which could be seen as a con, but I think the choices work.
Proximity
For proximity I reached out to our chief correspondent and proximity expert, Rodolfo the Robot. Here’s what he had to say:
“Be Boop. Proximity for Christina’s portfolio computes as functional in my robo-brain. BRrr. Sections have adequate space between them to show separation and components of each section are grouped close enough to show relation. This separation and relation the human brain can understand. BBBOP. Rodolfo out!”
Thanks Rodolfo! Thanks Christina! And thank you for taking a look at the visual design elements of Contrast, Repetition, Alignment, and Proximity.
