Since 2017, we’ve been on the receiving end of a long list of prestigious awards. From winning the Golden Egg to becoming one of the top 10 business ideas at the Berlingske Business Boost, the award compass has kindly pointed in our direction. But most of these awards have been in our home market, namely Denmark. So winning not one, but two awards in the UK — London to be exact — reflects the tremendous strides we’ve taken over the last year in expanding the business globally.

The Good Web Guide’s annual Website of the Year Awards is a yearly celebration of exceptional start-ups and established internet heroes.

Two nominations, two awards

At this year’s The Good Web Guide Website of the Year awards, we got the nod for both the “Business Website of the Year” & the “Digital Transformation Website of the Year”.

Just being nominated for these categories was humbling, but winning was beyond belief. I had the opportunity to attend the award ceremony, held at the Royal Institution, together with our Head of Global Partnerships, Glenn Thorsen.

When our name was announced the first time, we exploded with excitement — much to the amusement of our British hosts. And when our name was announced the second time, we couldn’t contain ourselves and leaped off the stage in excitement.

Double-category win reflects our unique position in the marketplace

The fact that we won both the business and digital transformation categories is no coincidence. On one hand, we’re using technology (aka a digital platform) to connect a two-sided marketplace and transform the overall process of discovering, booking and listing unique spaces into something that’s categorically easier, faster and downright smarter than it is today.

But who’s benefitting most? Well, businesses, or rather both sides of the marketplace, which includes both space owners and business professionals. What we’re effectively doing is adapting proven B2C models and user journeys that business professionals are already familiar with in their regular lives (think Amazon, Uber, Airbnb) to the B2B challenge of finding unique spaces for whatever. And it’s through this digital transformation, which generates value in multiple directions, that the judges found the core value of what we do.

This is what the judges had so say…

“This is a fantastic concept that empowers both property owners/occupiers to make the most of their space, and renters to further develop their ideas, projects and businesses. The website itself is very easy to navigate, and clearly communicates Gaest’s proposition. It feels very familiar on first visit, and the initial search is incredibly simple to start finding the right space for your meeting. Gaest is providing genuine digital transformation for all types of users. The carbon neutral initiative is an added bonus and is to be applauded. The icing on the cake!”

Matt Isherwood, Managing Director of Fuse

“As the worlds first flexible workspace broker we have witnessed significant change. Flexible working is set to grow by 30% each year for the next 5 years and with the desire for on-demand workspace solutions surging, we are extremely excited about Gaest.com allowing business the opportunity to book workshop, photoshoot and team building space with ease”

Michael Benjamin, CMO of Office Freedom

“This is a feature rich site, the primary business activity is accessible right where you need it. It is clean and pleasant to navigate with little room for getting lost. The boast bar is subtle and the benefits are well laid out and clear, it is also good to see the site recognizes when a user is leaving the site and tries to encourage further engagement.”

Lex Deak, CEO & Co-Founder of Pia

“It’s a new disruptive idea, has values and service integrated together and a nice branding story throughout. It is an excellent user experience and most importantly makes something new very easy to consume.
