More than meetings: Midweek Music Break underscores the versatility of spaces on Gaest.com
Each Wednesday during the month of September, we transformed 4 unique spaces in Copenhagen — typically booked for meetings and workshops — into impromptu music venues. This is what we learned, saw and enjoyed.
“Wouldn’t it be neat to team up and host intimate concerts in some of your cool spaces,” was how I remember Stine Hulvej, low-fi’s bubbly Co-founder pitching the idea. “Let’s do this,” was the response I immediately shot back. And so the Midweek Music Break Concert Series — a 4-part concert series held every Wednesday in September 2018 — was born.
The space matters
Low-fi, a community and online marketplace for user-generated concerts, is home to hundreds (maybe thousands) of up-and-coming artists looking to test new material, hone their sound and grow their following. But for their concerts to happen, they need spaces — in particular ones that accentuate the music, because as we all know: the space in which you do virtually anything, eat, meet or hear music matters!
Perfect harmony
At Gaest.com, we’re constantly looking for new ways to expand how we and others view the 3,000+ spaces currently hosted on the platform. We’re especially focused on helping others see the versatility of each space, which is why hosting intimate concerts in some of our more unique spaces was a no-brainer. So we set out to match 4 artists with 4 spaces, each combining to create a unique experience that can only be achieved when the music and space are in perfect harmony. Here are their stories:
Tri Minh at The Shantiroom

We kicked off the concert series with the Hanoi-based electronic music artist Tri Minh at the enchanting ShantiRoom. Before the concert, we met up with Host Trine Højgaard to learn a bit more about what her space was all about.
Karen Kousgaard at Vogelkop
Wednesday the12th of September, 2018
This unplugged concert was hosted by DIY handymand and designer Ronald in his quaint and cozy café Vogelkop together with singer-songwriter Karen Kousgaard. Hear what Ronald and Karen had to say when we stopped by for a quick chat before the event.

The New Investors at Kontoret På Stefansgade
Wednesday the 26th of September, 2018
For the last concert, we got intimate with the indie pop band: The New Investors. Hosted by Martin in a wildly popular basement nestled in the heart of trendy Nørrebro, Kontoret på Stefansgade created the perfect backdrop for this colorful and entertaining concert.
