Inflection Point: The Path to IPO — Episode #4: Vincent Huguet, CEO at Malt
Vincent Huguet is the Co-Founder & CEO of French startup, Malt, a digital freelancer marketplace aiming to build the “new work order.”
With nearly half a million freelancers on the platform, Malt works to match them with projects posted by over fifty-thousand companies all while easing the administrative, legal & invoice management burden incurred by independents. In 2021, Malt raised an $80M Series C with Eurazeo & Goldman Sachs Growth, putting their lifetime total at around $134M. Prior to Malt, Vincent spent much of his early career in eCommerce. He currently serves as a board member for France Digitale, Europe’s premier startup association & lobbying organization. During this conversation we discuss Europe’s fragmented IPO market, the power of communication and the benefits of ecosystem development.
“I think there is a lot of interest in IPOs, in Europe & France… It’s something people are starting to prepare for. The question I think, at the same time as the founders get prepared, it’s important that the ecosystem gets prepared too. There has always been a path for EU companies to go the the NASDAQ, the US, but there are obviously other options in Europe. But it’s still a very fragmented topic in Europe. I think the ecosystem, at the same time as companies grow on the subject, will get better at being less fragmented. And I hope there is a strong centralized place for European companies.”
