This year, we’ve been working hard behind the scenes to put together an industry report at the intersection of global investing trends, crossover strategies and the Revaia thesis. The research for this report was two-fold: a data-driven analysis of worldwide late-stage investing dynamics paired with qualitative interviews of startup founders, executives and thought leaders overseeing successful growth strategies and entry into the public markets. Our written report will be shared publicly later this year, but in the meantime, we wanted to release the interviews we’ve gathered over the past several months as a primer for the broader forthcoming report.
Over the next several weeks, you’ll hear in-depth conversations with founders discussing their point of view on scaling a business, the path to IPO and the delicate balance between financing, hyper-growth and building best-in-class products.
This series, Inflection Point: The Path to IPO, is an exploration of technology investing trends across private and public markets. Tech investing has been highly specialized in both the public and private spheres — employing different skill sets and strategies depending on stage, sector and capital structure. As the investing ecosystem grows and matures, new approaches have begun to blur the lines between seed, early stage, venture, growth rounds and public markets.
This podcast provides an intimate look through the lenses of people operating day-in-and-day-out in this space. The first six episodes will feature scale-up founders and executives sharing their perspective on the path to IPO. In the final episode, you’ll hear from industry leading bankers and investors outlining the best practices they’ve developed through years of experience overseeing the process. Olivier Pailhes is the Co-Founder Aircall, a cloud-based computer telephony system that got its start in a startup studio in Paris in 2014. Since then, the company has scaled tremendously, becoming France’s 16th unicorn — that is, a company valued at over $1B — and more recently achieving centaur status, reaching $100M in annual recurring revenue. Olivier and I talk about the early days of the business, the challenges that come with scale, and how he thinks about the future of Aircall as a high-growth, pre-IPO scale-up.
