How Far Will One Act of Kindness Take You?
The motivational story of Farmer Fleming
Genuine kindness, appears to be losing its foothold in our society.
In our pursuit of projecting confidence and self-assuredness, a regrettable norm of arrogance has taken its place.
I mean that there are some really arrogant people out there.
Strangely, in our effort to be perceived as strong individuals, we shy away from simple acts of humility such as apologizing, expressing genuine concern for others’ issues, or offering a word of encouragement.
I worry that we are losing this notion: it is our collective acts of kindness that hold the power to transform the world for the better.
Meet Mr. Fleming
As the sun began to set in the fields, a distant cry pierced the air, breaking Farmer Fleming’s concentration.
It’s urgency refused to be ignored and impulsed Fleming into action.
Racing against time, he discovered a horrifying scene: a young boy, no older than ten, trapped in the merciless embrace of quicksand.
With every ounce of strength, he reached the boy just in time to hold the boy by the chin. The rest of his body was already immersed in the quicksand.
