The way we experience the world around us is a direct reflection of the world within us. Gabrielle Bernstein

I have written about silence in the following article:

In it, I advocate that:

By preserving time and space for ourselves and realizing the benefits of silence, we will communicate better with our inner world and others.

In doing so, we reflect on things that either matter or disturb us. Both circumstances represent opportunities for realizing gains vis a vis how we look at and react to events, and the time will come to our aid to gain perspective on a subject before we take action.

No matter how deeply we analyze situations (rather than facts), we will arrive at subjective and relative interpretations. We then need to realize that looking into our inner world will align our thoughts with our principles, ethics, and morals, which is a significant gain. For this, however, we need to get to the heart of every issue and be ready to accept that sometimes we need to reach outside our comfort zone: where our initial position vis a vis politics, religion, or any socially related subject (racism, inequality, human rights, preservation of ambient) could have taken us to different conclusions.

Listening to music, observing nature, and playing are alternative ways to explore within ourselves for answers that avoid us in the first instances. An uncomfortable feeling, a certain uneasiness with matters, leads us to deal with issues in a way where peace of mind is usually easier to reach.

For religious people, staying silent after prayers or looking at a candle helps us achieve the right state of mind to reflect, which will also help us reach a more profound and peaceful state of mind.
