Oleksandra Samsonova, a 23-year-old sniper of the Ukrainian army

She is an ordinary girl from Lviv.
Her name is Nastya. She is 16 years old. She is a schoolgirl.
She now knows exactly where the city of Shchastia is.
She now knows many cities in the east of the Ukraine
But it was in the town of Schastya that her father was killed by a mine back in February.

Six months ago, Nastya was happy and dreamed of becoming a lawyer.
And now she knows the difference between the wounded and the dead very well.
When the air raid alarm sounds, she no longer runs for cover with all her might.
She walks slowly and whispers, “I’m so sick of you bitches.”
She goes to school for a week, she studies online for a week
She has no desire to study at all…
There is only anger and fatigue…

It’s a good thing she has a laptop; it was a gift from Oleh, her father’s brother-in-arms.
Oleg has no leg because of the same mine.
Oleh is a nice guy, but Nastya sometimes wants to ask him:
Why do you have only a leg and I don’t have a whole dad?
At such moments, she wants to scream and she does not feel sorry for Oleh at all…
And the only thing that holds her back is her dad’s bracelet, woven from paracord.
Dirty and fused, it almost falls off her small wrist.
But Nastia will never take it off and give it back — never, ever, to anyone
Dad’s clothes smell like his "Fahrenheit." so spicy, scary, and sweet.

Nastia seems to have nothing inside her but a black cold.
And her eyes are so childlike, like a pair of blue scalpels.

Nastya doesn’t want to be a lawyer anymore — she now likes the profession of a sniper…

P.S. Shchastya is a town near Luhansk occupied by Russian invaders. Translated from Ukrainian — Happiness
