GAINS 2019 Recap and 2020 Vision

We hope you have had some nice days relaxing with friends and family, enjoying simple things, comfort food, laughs and love.

We wish you all the best for 2020. We believe positivity and success is contagious, like many things in life. If you’re here with us, we will share again the victories and the setbacks. And of course, we will fight together to bring home more victories than defeats, thus creating a virtuous cycle.

We cheer to an amazing 2020. Not only the start of a new year but the start of a new decade. It’s the opportunity to start anew in a way. Grow into something bigger, something better. We only have one life. Let’s live it together to the fullest.

Introduction

I wanted to use this special occasion of getting into a new year to reflect on what we’ve learned in 2019 running GAINS.

GAINS is now nearly 2 years old. Time flies by so fast…

We have survived 2 bear markets and we are very proud of this. Everyone of you still here can be proud of their tenacity.

2019 has been tough for a huge majority of people in crypto, us included, but we do not give up. We learn and adapt.

We have learned lessons many haven’t this year. By confronting ourselves heads on with the complex world of crypto, experiencing the good and the bad alike: the dreamers and passionate people as well as the greedy and the scammers, we have acquired a heightened feel for things. We believe these experiences will help us overcome future obstacles and see things in a different way than many people who haven’t gone through what we have.

We are grateful for everyone and we hope you have gotten a lot of value and fun with us even through the hard times.

2019 Recap

At GAINS, during 2019 we have:

• Raised 3,000+ ETH worth $680,000+ for 8 deals.
• Hosted and organized 16 online events: 13 AMAs and 3 quizzes and in the process, gave away $5,000+ equivalent in tokens!
• Attended 4 major conferences (and dozens of smaller meetups), thus getting a feel for how things are in real life (it’s way different than online) and building our network to be more aware of news and opportunities as soon as possible:
  1) The Blockchain Economic Forum in January in the exclusive Davos,
  2) De:days in September in the hot Palma de Mallorca,
  3) CC Forum in October in the classy London,
  4) Blockchain Paris Summit in October in the romantic Paris.
• Started posting the very appreciated daily news, with not only curated info about crypto and blockchain but also cool tech facts and motivational quotes.
• Posted and received 30,000+ messages from the community. Important announcements, insightful discussions, interesting questions, heated debates and of course memes!
• Grown the community to 10,000+ members total over Telegram, Discord, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
• Ran a trial trading pool which made a 5% profit.
• Have been featured in ICObench as experts.
• Launched language specific groups so that you can connect with people who speak the same language and share the same culture as well as your interest for crypto and blockchain.
• Grew our team from 0 (besides the founders) to 4 amazing people who help us out on a daily basis.

2019 definitely wasn’t easy. We have striven to bring you the best from the bottom of our hearts. Fighting to get the best projects both to widen our horizons and provide good investment opportunities. With that said, the reality is that we have borne the losses brought on us by the market like many of you.

However, looking back, we’re still proud of what we’ve done and we intend to do so much more and so much better in 2020.

2020 Vision

If we take a step back and wonder what makes the world move, what makes people tick, what people want, then I think we can pinpoint it to these 3 primary things: people want to be happy, healthy and wealthy. Of course this is very simple but we could just say people want better lives. At any point in our lives, we either (and sometimes both when we’re lucky): 1) work to be able to enjoy things later or 2) enjoy things right now.

If we’re in crypto, this is because we have realized it presents an unmatched opportunity to live a better life. But we cannot do it alone. We need the help of cool people. Actually, even if we could do it alone, it probably wouldn’t feel that great. Intrinsically, we need to share, we need to belong, we need to have a clan, a tribe, a community. Making friends along the way is at least half the fun.

The Power of Community

There is something I realized throughout this year that I think is both common sense but still highly underrated. It’s the power of community.

By slowly building a community with like minded people, we want to be able to both work for the future and enjoy the process. Unlike so many people who work jobs they don’t like for 11 months of the year to then enjoy 1 month of vacation, we see past that. We want financial independence. We believe in more. Some of us may be really convinced by the crypto ethos. Some of us may enjoy learning about the technical intricacies of blockchain. Many of us want to get rich to have more options and live exciting lives. We live in unprecedented times of opportunity and we want a bite of it.

Whatever pushes us, we’re a bunch of dreamers, believers, builders, gamblers, risk-takers, passionate, greedy motherfuckers. In a word, humans. We make mistakes but we’re also capable of greatness. I really love the crypto space because it attracts people who aren’t dull. You’re sure to live exciting things and be presented with a lot of lessons. It’s up to us to heed them or not.

Crypto is comprised of lots of small (and less small) communities. What makes a community successful isn’t really its size but how tight it is, how active and passionate the members are, what unites them, what they have in common, what they want to achieve together.

We are very proud of what we’ve built with GAINS but I believe this is only the very beginning. When I envision what we could and want to become: a community that is the most informed on earth, connected with passion, compassion, knowledge and skill all over the earth, then the possibilities are just infinite. It would feel so awesome to be part of a community you know has your back no matter what. A community full of friends. A community full of people ready to help. A community full of people willing to challenge things and always looking to improve and have fun. This is what I want.

The money can and most likely will be nice, when it comes. But I’m sure the feeling of having a secondary family will feel ten times better.

Closing Words

It has been a very interesting, even though very tough year. We are truly happy to be on this journey. It wouldn’t be rewarding if it wasn’t hard.

We can’t really be sure of anything in crypto and this is a part of what makes it fun. There is one thing you can be sure about though: we will do our very best to lift everyone up, we will never stop fighting and we will always care about our people.
