Gamefi — Telegram AMA — August 31
On Tuesday, August 31, we had the pleasure to welcome to our Telegram chat:
Lexia Nguyen, COO.
We asked her questions about the development of Gamefi.
Some sentences have been slightly edited for readability but the meaning has been conserved.
GameFi is the all-encompassing hub for game finance. The platform services blockchain gamers, investors, and traders in one Guild and Aggregator alongside a launchpad exclusively for games. GameFi will bring the gaming community the promising blockchain game initiatives developed on the BSC and Polygon networks
Traders can buy or sell yield-bear game items of any game, from any blockchain, on a single platform. GameFi is pioneering a framework for crypto games to advance their project delivery through pre-designed, ready-to-integrate smart contracts.
GameFi provides a selection of the industry’s most creative games and the first marketplace for trading items cross-game borders. Gamers can access any blockchain’s games in one place, with tools to track their Play to Earn yields and item net values.
GAFI is the native utility token of the Gamefi ecosystem. GAFI holders receive discounts on trading and yield fees. A portion of ecosystem fees is used to support the token’s liquidity on the secondary market. GAFI stakers have the ability to propose the direction of the ecosystem.
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: Please introduce yourself. What did you do before crypto and did you have any other previous venture in crypto?
A — Lexia from Gamefi: I’m Lexia Nguyen from team GameFi. My position in the project is Head of Operation, which is to say I am in charge of the whole of the operation for GameFi. This means ensuring the entire team has to operate smoothly and be in sync with one another, in addition to having a strong connection with GameFi’s partners, game studios, and, especially, our treasured community.
On a side note, I’m into blockchain for nearly 10 years and I’ve also been a gamer since I was 10!
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: What is the project about in a few simple sentences? How many people are on the team?
A — Lexia from Gamefi: About our project, GameFi, it is an all-encompassing hub for game finance, serving game studios, players, traders, and investors in one place. GameFi will bring the gaming community the promising blockchain game initiatives developed on the BSC and Polygon networks, which host most of the top-rated play-to-earn titles.
The GameFi Ecosystem includes Yield Guilds, Launchpad, Aggregator, Marketplace, and Accelerator. We have the support of Icetea Labs, the incubator behind Red Kite launchpads, and several high-profile games like Faraland, StepHero, Kaby Arena. They support us a lot about the launchpad and game-related features.
There are about 20 people on the team. We are gamers and have assets scattering in several games.
Q — Twitter user @KevinSalom1: GameFi is the first project to create a platform for game launches called IGO. Can you describe what benefits a game will have if it launches its token in an IGO instead of an ICO as it was done before?
A — Lexia from Gamefi: We support both types of initial sales:
- token sales: similar to IDO
- game assets NFT (sales): first-time sales of game items to public
The benefit is that
— for projects: we offer a game-focus audience of real players and asset hunters
— for buyers and traders: they can get access to high-quality games, only top projects, and on a regular basis
We already have many games registered, and Kaby Arena, the most hyped game now, is launching on Gamefi.
Q — Twitter user @augustk95: You say that “GameFi offers a selection of the most creative games in the industry”. Are all those games really developed by your platform or technology, or is GameFi really a platform where you can find all the best games available on the different blockchains?
A — Lexia from Gamefi: No, they do not need to develop using or platform or technology. We support games on BSC and Polygon.
— For launchpads, mysterious box selling, marketplace: games just need to be compatible with ERC20 and NFT standards
— For Yield Guild: we will have to work with games case by case to integrate and we do offer some predefined mechanisms so games can reuse to speed up things, but they don’t need to use those to be on GameFi
Q — Twitter user @antonio50221026: Something that caught my attention in your project is the scholarships. So could you explain to me how this will work and what are the steps to follow to apply for a scholarship? These scholarships can be applied for by anyone in the world? Will KYC be used in this process?
A — Lexia from Gamefi: Everyone loves to “play to earn”, but before you can plan, you have to spend. For example, you have to buy some heroes, which are not cheap. During the games, to earn more you often need to pay more to upgrade your game items, heroes, equipment, etc., to open secret boxes, to shorten the wait time, etc. Not everyone can afford that
On the other hand, many people have the fund or the unused game assets. They can “lend” or “contribute” to game players and get part of the rewards of play to earn. That is basically how Yield Guild works. We will first focus on the first type of Yield Guild: scholarship. People can contribute tokens or game assets for lending, and get part of rewards. We will pubic a form so scholars can apply, and will recruit scholars for the first guild this month. Stay tuned for our announcement.
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: What role does the token play in the ecosystem?
A — Lexia from Gamefi: People can use GAFI tokens in several ways
- to buy a token (IDO) of top games launched on GameFi
- to attend IGO of best games in form of mysterious boxes or similar fashion
- discount fees for marketing place, aggregator, etc.
Other utilities can be added in the future.
Q — Telegram user Natasya: Partnerships and collaborations are one of the cornerstones of making a very broad definition, can you share a few of the partnerships you have formed with an existing blockchain foundation recently?
A — Lexia from Gamefi: We are backed by Icetea Labs (incubator of Faraland, StepHero, Kaby Arena), DAO Maker (behind Deract, Dinox, etc.), and Animoca brands (investors of many great games). We are doing partnerships with Red Kite, Derace, Faraland, etc. We will incorporate most of the top games into our hub.
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: Did you raise funds so far? If so, how did you handle them? Are you planning to do any future raises?
A — Lexia from Gamefi: Yes, we closed seed and private round and will announce in a few days. We are incubated by Icetea Labs and very selective about VCs
We pick 2 launchpads: Dao Maker and Red Kite, because they launched many games and can help connecting games to the GameFi ecosystem. We also have Animoca Brands, a top VC in gaming, and Morningstar
We do not plan future raises, except our public sale, which will be on DAO maker, Red Kite, Gate, and GameFi itself, on 10 Sep tentatively. Funds raised will be used for software development, biz dev, marketing, and operational expenses.
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: What sets Gamefi apart from the competition?
A — Lexia from Gamefi: GameFi is a game hub
1. Launchpad: although GameFi IDO is 10 days ahead, our launchpad is already fully functional and we are doing IGO for Kaby Arena today together with DAO Maker, Red Kite, Gate
2. Aggregator: where you can find the best games, and track earnings and assets across game borders
3. Yield Guild: we are recruiting scholars for our first Axie Infinity scholarship
There is an influx of games, so people need GameFi to filter and manage all of them (think of it as you needing Binance to manage token assets).
Q — Ayeley from GAINS: What stage is the project at? What should we expect in the future?
A — Lexia from Gamefi: Our launchpad is production-ready. Yield Guild and Mysterious boxes are priority items and are on the way
These are features we plan to develop:
You can also see the roadmap here.
Q — Telegram user Carlcrip: One of the current problems in crypto games is the speculative prices that surround their market, creating a financial bubble that then explodes into decline as it is impossible to enter because it is so expensive. So what strategies can you implement to avoid a financial bubble like a launchpad platform?
A — Lexia from Gamefi: We think a bubble is a part of how everything progresses in circles, and we can do nothing about it. Instead, we focus on offering the best games and best experiences to projects, game players, traders, investors, and bring the most utility to the $GAFI token.
Lexia, thanks for coming into our community, and taking the time to answer our questions. We will be cheering you on as you create the ultimate gaming hub for all crypto. — Ayeley Commodore-Mensah from GAINS Associates 🐋
