myMessage — Telegram AMA — December 12

On Sunday, December 12, we had the pleasure to welcome to our Telegram chat:

Mark Kamphuis, DAO Community member

We asked him questions about the development of myMessage.

Some sentences have been slightly edited for readability but the meaning has been conserved.

myMessage is a privacy light storage and messaging platform. It’s data storage will run on a multi-chain structure with AES256 encryption support. Supported networks include Zilliqa, Avalanche, Polygon, and Binance Smart Chain. In addition to messaging and storage, there will be privacy support of Reddit-like messaging and thread reply board giving users an array of options. Recently, myMessage was awarded a grant by Polygon to build their Reddit-like protocol on their platform.

myMessage is the world’s first-ever light-grade decentralized Reddit-like social media & data storage platform built on a multi-chain structure, supporting evolving applications including a decentralized Thread-reply bulletin board, messaging dApp, developer tools & SDKs and Data Portal to provide encrypted data feedings to Web3 applications with Quantum-resistant level of security.

myMessage will now and first run on Zilliqa Blockchain. But in order to realize continuous and sustainable growth and for better scalability and interoperability functionalities, myMessage will explore a multi-chain-based way.

myMessage outperforms traditional social media in 4 aspects: 1) the raw data cannot be leaked. 2)Data users’ requests are encrypted and can’t be revealed by anyone other than data users themselves, even by data providers. 3) The results cannot be revealed by anyone other than the corresponding data users. And 4) the results are ensured to be produced by corresponding data, request parameters, and algorithms. The insurance is further verified by myMessage smart contracts.

Q — Ayeley from GAINS: Please introduce yourself. What did you do before crypto and did you have any other previous venture in crypto?

A — Mark from myMessage: Sure. I’m Mark Kamphuis. DAO Committee Member (team member) at myMessage.

I’ve been in the blockchain/crypto industry since June 2018 and some of you may remember me as head of Brand and Marketing at Zilliqa back in 2019/2020

I’m also co-founder of CoralApp, a fitness and wellness dApp, and community, currently being built on the Zilliqa blockchain. myMessage currently has 8 core team members. Team members are from The Netherlands (me), Singapore, Malaysia, China, Pakistan.

Our advisors are Lester Lim (X21 founder), CryptoDaku and Kenzi Wang (AU21 founder) and we recently closed our private sale rounds. $2.1 M raised so far.

About myMessage

Q — Ayeley from GAINS: What is the myMessage project about in a few simple sentences?

A — Mark from myMessage: myMessage is a multi-chain SocialFi platform that builds on 4 blockchains: Zilliqa, Avalanche, Polygon, and BSC. So multi-chain approach basically.

We have 3 products in the pipeline:

1.) Messaging dApp: encrypt, send, read, search and receive messages, files, and data.
2.) Reddit like thread-reply bulletin board: decentralized social media (+ tipping)
3.) Data Portal for Web3 to provide encrypted data feedings to Web3 applications with a quantum-resistant level of security.

All our products are on-chain, so fully decentralized and censorship-free. On top of that myMessage uses a quantum-resistant level of security, which is quite a novelty.

Q — Ayeley from GAINS: How do you intend to handle the funds raised from the private sales? Are you planning to do any future raises?

A — Mark from myMessage: For now we have a decent runway. Let’s see how this plays out. But I can imagine if we start to grow fast, at some point more funding might be needed. But for now, we’re good.

Q — Twitter user @kevinsalom1: I would like to know what are the costs for storing our data using myMessage. Are the prices similar to those offered by centralized companies?

A — Mark from myMessage:?? Here’s a good link to info about myMessage. In general, I would say using blockchain technology is much cheaper compared to centralized services. It’s also safer, as everything is on-chain and no one but you has access to your data. 🔐 Unless you give someone access of course! Here’s a nice explainer video on how the Messaging dApp works:

Q — Twitter user @DVenditte: Lack of decentralization with data storage and censorship of government bodies to silence users is a constant problem. How does myMessage provide an effective solution to these problems and offer users the opportunity to be in control of their data?

A — Mark from myMessage: This is one of the problems we aim to solve. Our Reddit-like protocol and platform will hopefully be a true fully decentralized version of Reddit, where no single entity can control it or can take it down for that matter.

Our source code will be made public once we complete it, and even if our server is blocked, you can still download our source code and run it on your laptop. On top of that, we provide the option to create a private thread, whereas Reddit currently doesn’t offer such a service.

Q — Telegram user Anitax: myMessage wants to be a social but decentralized platform so I would like to know what plans you have to approach all regions of the world? Will your platform be usable in different languages? How global will myMessage be?

A — Mark from myMessage: We aim to be a truly global platform, everyone can join. It’s not where you’re from, but where are you at, right? Building on 4 different blockchains is also nice in terms of getting the word out for myMessage.

There will be ambassador programs to join and we will actively reach out to local communities as well.

Q — Telegram user QUANG: What do you think the future trend of DeFi is? What is the biggest flaw that DeFi is currently facing? And is the myMessage project looking to solve that problem?

A — Mark from myMessage: DeFi products are often very difficult to understand. We want to make earning on the blockchain a lot easier for people. Also, education is key for getting adoption for crypto and blockchain. So we’ll focus on making things easy, also in terms of UX.

Good UX also plays a very important role in this, along with things like explainer videos and clear instructions/FAQs.

Q — Ayeley from GAINS: What role will the token play in the myMessage ecosystem?

A — Mark from myMessage: Multiple utilities actually. Let me name a few:

1) Tipping — our token is designed to be used for tipping due to many decimal points. When you give a tip of say 100 tokens, this looks better than 0.001 token.
2) Private threads on the bulletin board. To create a private thread, you need to use our token.
3) Message mining — you can mine our token by participating in message mining, details will be out soon. Stay tuned.
4) Staking — we will be launching our own staking platform.
5) Buyback and burn — 50% of our revenue will be used for buyback and burn! 🔥🔥
6) Governance of the platform (governance token)
7) Paid content creation and access to this content needs the MESA token.

Competitive Advantage

Q — Ayeley from GAINS: Will the messaging dApp be a competitor to Telegram?

A — Mark from myMessage: Not really. This is about sending messages and data to the blockchain so you can retrieve them at a later date. So decentralized storage on-chain. But you can also communicate of course. And share your data with people, but only if you want to. 🙂

Business Development

Q — Ayeley from GAINS: How far along are you with your roadmap and what should we expect in the next weeks and months?

A — Mark from myMessage: You can check our Roadmap here.

Next up for us are 2 IDOs (BSCStation and TrustPad) and launching our first product on Zilliqa Mainnet. Avalanche and BCS integrations are also in the work, along with building the Reddit like a thread-reply bulletin board on Polygon. We received a Developer Grant from them.

Mark, thanks for coming into our community, and taking the time to answer our questions. — Ayeley from GAINS
