We asked them questions about the development of Planet Mojo.

Introduction

Q — Ayeley from GAINS: Please introduce yourselves. Is Planet Mojo your first crypto venture? It would be interesting to know about your exploits so far and how you ended up in crypto

A — Michael from Planet Mojo: My name is Mike Levine, I’m a 25+ year game industry veteran. I worked at LucasArts in the 90s, and since then have run my own companies doing a mix of our own projects, and service work.

We’ve worked with big companies like Hasbro and Pepsi and done our own games. Last year we made a VR game based on characters and a game I worked on at Lucas many years ago

As we were working on our last project, Sam & Max: This Time It’s Virtual!, a VR game, I caught wind of first NFTs and then blockchain games. Thus began a very deep dive into this space, which continues to this day. We believe blockchain games are the future of the games industry where players can truly own their digital assets and play a role in the future of the project.

A — Ralph from Planet Mojo: Hello, I’m Ralph Gerth, Executive Director at Planet Mojo. I started working in game development with Mike at LucasArts back in the 90s. My background is in art but over the years my roles have included game design, programming, producer, and studio founder. When Mike showed me what he was building with Planet Mojo, I was immediately interested and joined the team.

A — Kendrea from Planet Mojo: My name is Kendrea and I’m the head of the community for Planet Mojo. I’m not a traditional gamer BUT I LOVE community and growing communities. I’m a Blockchain native and am excited to see how gaming intersects with blockchain! It's an amazing time and I’m glad to be building with the EXCITING project! I came in 2017 for BTC but stayed for ETH and EVERYTHING else in this wonderful space! Thank you!

About Planet Mojo

Q — Ayeley from GAINS: Tell us more about the project. What is the PlanetMojo project about in a few simple sentences?

A — Michael from Planet Mojo: Planet Mojo is a blockchain gaming metaverse being built on Polygon by veterans from LucasArts, EA, Activision, and more, and backed by Animoca, Republic, Alameda, Spartan, and others. Players will compete with their customized teams in a suite of E-Sports PvP and Play-And-Earn games set inside a rich new alien world. Mojo Melee, our first title, will be an auto chess game reinvented for blockchain, allowing players to own their game characters (as NFTs) and play and earn in ongoing tournaments. In addition, we will launch our Biome (Land) gameplay at the same time.

To add, we have been proponents of “Play-AND-Earn” in this space since we launched. Now we are seeing Axie and many others get behind this important change to how we see this space evolving. We are all about “fun first” and we want to give everyone a chance to play our games and create an original, sustainable project that makes great games, but also has an impact on society and helps protect our environment in a small way. We hope by doing the latter other projects will follow our lead and we all together can make a massive impact!

How did you come up with the idea of using your game and NFTs to restore nature on the planet and build a sustainable future?

To us, we wanted to build a rich fantasy world but also one tied to the real world. As people will spend more time in metaverses, we wanted to create one that also reminded people of nature and the real world. And a big part of that to us is giving back. Q — Telegram user Amina Peter: Can we know the quality graphics of your project? Most Blockchain gaming in the space now has the problem of poor graphics quality and terrible gameplay. Was the birth of Planet Mojo brought a solution to this?

A — Ralph from Planet Mojo: If you’ve seen our Mojos then you should have a good idea of how we approach quality. Our team is very experienced in making AAA games and we have very high standards.

Q — Telegram user Tahsin Ahmet 💥: Currently, many games start with a small player base due to the high entry fee. Is there a “Planet Mojo” entry fee or starting requirement? If so, what are they? Do I need an NFT or token to join and enjoy the world of “Planet Mojo”?

A — Kendrea from Planet Mojo: The entry to playing the game is owning Mojo! We will airdrop the 4 champions when you hold Mojo. SO the initial entry will be the purchase price.

Q — Telegram user Steffi Reguera🎀: Planet Mojo is a blockchain game metaverse built on Polygon. My question is, why was Planet Mojo developed in Polygon? What makes you think this is the right infrastructure for this project?

A — Michael from Planet Mojo: Polygon has been a great partner to us, and an investor and they check many boxes for us. The low gas fees and their SDK and future roadmap make it a great place for games and gamers.

Q — Telegram user Patrick: I read that in your universe there are peculiar and special creatures called mojos that fight against a threat facing your universe called The Scourge. So, tell us about these special creatures, their functions, and the characteristics they have? Tell us more about The Scourge threat?

A — Michael from Planet Mojo: Mojos are special creatures that the planet has given birth to, to fight a deadly threat known as The Scourge. The definition of Mojo means magic, a charm or talisman, which also applies here.

Q — Telegram user Aulgvrl 🐨: You said that Planet Mojo was in its first NFT launch. Can you tell us what role this NFT will play in the game? And how can this benefit a strong trend in a market like NFT?

A — Kendrea from Planet Mojo: You will need Mojo and the 4 champions (which will be airdropped if you hold Mojo) in order to play the game. NFT market is ripe for innovation as art and gaming integration; we plan to stay ahead of both!

Q — Telegram user chukky: The NFT Moj-Seed was one of the things that attracted my interest on Planet Mojo. So, could you explain to us more about Moj-Seed NFT and its applications? What part of the game will this NFT play?

A — Ralph from Planet: The Mojseed is where Mojos are born. When you buy a Mojo you receive a seed. When you can then reveal your Mojo from the seed whenever you choose.

Token

Q — Ayeley from GAINS: Let’s talk about the token. What role does it play in the Planet Mojo ecosystem?

A — Michael from Planet Mojo: We’ve taken a careful methodical approach, working with our partners like Republic and Animoca to help us design our tokenomics with a focus on long-term sustainability.

We decided to lead with content and our Mojo NFTS and will launch our token with the games this summer, so we can have true utility

It will be a Rewards token with eventual governance voting rights as well. We also plan to have multiple forms of staking

One of the perks of minting one of our first Mojos is early access to the games and our first tournament where you can win our token and cash prizes

A — Kendrea from Planet Mojo: Again, our way of things weighs heavily upon presenting value to the community. Our Token will be released after gameplay. We want to show our value first before we release a token.

We are using funds for building the team, developing the game and NFTs, and everything we are doing.

Competitive Advantage

Q — Ayeley from GAINS: You make reference to Axie when talking about Planet Mojo. What sets Planet Mojo apart from the competition?

A — Ralph from Planet Mojo: There are a lot of projects being promoted that got started before us. We feel our team, with our history of developing and releasing great games, will be an advantage for Planet Mojo. Plus we place a high priority on creating quality content from both an art and a narrative perspective. A lot of the projects in this space have been started by people who never have shipped a game. As experienced game developers, this is one of our true advantages.

A — Michael from Planet Mojo: And we only have respect for Axie and other projects. This space is growing but still small and we can all help each other and learn from each other.

A — Kendrea from Planet Mojo: From a community standpoint, we have a very vocal community. Our community will give us their insight and opinion; which is so powerful as the game and dynamics evolve.

A — Michael from Planet Mojo: Thanks! The desktop browser is easily accessible and has less friction with Metamask and crypto. We will def be taking the game to mobile as well very soon and on other platforms our community wants!
