Today marks a milestone in what we can achieve at Gains Network, and what can be achieved in DeFi as a whole. We are delighted to announce that for the first time ever, it is possible to trade the price of stocks with leverage, on-chain! Decentralized trading platforms will have to adapt to offer a wide variety of products outside of just crypto. We are proud to be the first to take this innovative leap.
The first set of stocks available on gTrade — our decentralized leveraged trading platform — is: Apple ($AAPL), Meta ($FB) and Google ($GOOGL).
This milestone marks a significant technical achievement, thanks to the unique synthetic nature of gTrade. Any pair of any asset type can be listed by just having a price feed, the right APIs, given it has enough liquidity on spot exchanges. The $GNS token acts as a synthetic against any asset listed. This means that all of the existing liquidity in the $GNS/$DAI pool, and in the $DAI vault, can effectively be used to offer leveraged trading on any pair.
We do not need to tokenize the stocks listed or build liquidity or order books for each one of them. This makes us much more (at least 100x more) capital-efficient than most centralized and decentralized leveraged trading platforms. This is how we get to offer such a compelling user experience with as little as $20 million TVL at the time of writing.
