Welcome gTraders, to the King of the Hill!

Have you been waiting for another opportunity to showcase your trading prowess? Now’s your chance.

gTrade’s King of the Hill trading contest is scheduled to run from 9.30 am ET June 12th to 9.30 am ET June 30th. Over these 18 days, participants will have the chance to win big, with $100,000 on the line!

The top 30 Arbitrum and top 30 Polygon traders will win prizes in $ARB and $DAI respectively, random draw prizes will be up for grabs, and finally, each chain’s least profitable trader will also receive a much-needed consolation prize.

Let’s walk through the details!

Race to the Top

As the name suggests, the event’s King of the Hill theme rewards ongoing performance rather than a one-off end score. Pending rewards are accumulated daily based on your rank on the leaderboard at the end of each 24-hour period from the contest start, offering an incentive for consistent performance throughout the contest duration. Be prepared to defend your leaderboard standing!

Please note that while the rewards are calculated daily based on your rank, the prizes will be sent shortly after the contest ends.

Here’s how the leaderboard ranking works:

  • On Polygon, your rank will be determined by the sum of the percentage PnL across all trades opened after the contest started (including open trades), giving both smaller and larger traders an equal shot at winning.
  • On Arbitrum, rankings are calculated based on the sum of absolute PnL (in DAI) across all trades opened after the contest started (including open trades), giving larger traders an increased likelihood of securing a higher spot on the leaderboard.

Don’t forget, the longer you rank on the leaderboard throughout the contest, the more you’ll be rewarded! This also means that sitting atop the leaderboard at the beginning of the contest is just as lucrative as leading it at the end.

This model has been designed to spur competition while ensuring fair play, and encourages traders to consistently strategize and maintain or improve their standing on the leaderboard.

Reward Distributions

A total of $70,000 in $ARB is up for grabs on Arbitrum, and $30,000 in $DAI is on offer for Polygon traders.

Total rewards for a rank (n) are calculated using the following geometric sequence:

  1. Arbitrum: 50 * 1.20587^(30-n)
  2. Polygon: 20 * 1.2093^(30-n)

The idea with this sequence is to ensure that each position on the leaderboard earns more than the place below it, rather than grouping leaderboard standings into equal reward buckets (like 11–15 and 15–20, for example). Every spot makes a difference!

Arbitrum:

  • 1st: $11,394
  • 2nd: $9,448
  • 3rd: $7,835
  • 4th: $6,498
  • 5th: $5,388
  • 6th: $4,468
  • 7th: $3,705
  • 8th: $3,073
  • 9th: $2,548
  • 10th: $2,113
  • 11th: $1,752
  • 12th: $1,453
  • 13th: $1,205
  • 14th: $999
  • 15th: $828
  • 16th: $687
  • 17th: $570

  • 27th: $87
  • 28th: $72
  • 29th: $60

Polygon:

  • 1st: $4,949
  • 2nd: $4,092
  • 3rd: $3,384
  • 4th: $2,798
  • 5th: $2,314

  • 12th: $611
  • 13th: $505
  • 14th: $418
  • 15th: $345
  • 16th: $286
  • 17th: $236

  • 25th: $51
  • 26th: $42
  • 27th: $35
  • 28th: $29
  • 29th: $24
  • 30th: $20

Example: An Arbitrum trader sits in 1st place for 5 days, 4th place for 7 days, and falls off the leaderboard for the remainder of the contest. The trader would earn: $11,394 * (5/18) + $6,498 * (7/18) = $5,696

The Sideshow

Whether you’re competing with the front-runners or just taking your daily trades, make sure to keep active. 10 random traders on Arbitrum will bag $235 each, and 10 random Polygon traders will receive $100. And yes, if you’re on the leaderboard, you’re still eligible for randomly drawn prizes.

Lastly, the worst traders (at the bottom of the leaderboard) on Arbitrum and Polygon will earn $1,165 and $500, respectively!
