In The Walking Dead: Empires, Hero Cards allow you to customize your apocalyptic persona.
We’ve made some exciting developments on The Walking Dead: Empires and we wanted to share the details of our progress with the community.
Coming to Life
First of all, the game is becoming more and more fun by the day! All the parts are coming together, and attendees at our Galaverse 2022 event in Malta will be the first to check out the new demo. Our art team has been “killing” it lately, and the world of TWDE is feeling ominous, creepy, and alive.
Walking down a dilapidated road amongst the remnants of a fallen society, ever on the lookout for a horde of of flesh-eating walkers; everything is beginning to harness the look and feel of the iconic AMC series. Hacking through walkers is as satisfying as you’d assume, with the right amount of danger sprinkled throughout.
For those attending Galaverse, you are in for a real treat. The rest will have to wait a bit longer to access a playable demo.
Choose Your Hero
Beyond the broader update, we are thrilled to announce here that our upcoming Hero Card Packs will be unveiled for purchase at Galaverse next week. Each pack will include three Hero Cards, with one card guaranteed to match the rarity of the pack. Inside each pack you will find iconic characters from AMC’s The Walking Dead. You may also find a few fresh faces in the bunch. This upcoming series of cards will include five characters unique to TWDE.
What’s truly exciting is that owners of these cards will be able to select their favorite card and embody that character in-game with exquisitely detailed character models. We don’t want to give away all the details, but fans of the show will instantly recognize these folks. And rest assured the five original characters are just as interactive and visually stunning as the show characters.
More than Just Looks
These are no mere skins. As you play, your chosen Hero will earn XP, allowing you to upgrade them. Upgrading a Hero Card will provide valuable boosts that elevate your base stats. And just like owning Land or a Crafting Station, Hero Cards provide opportunities for play and earn experiences.
With three Hero Cards per pack, you will have a variety to choose from. Each has their own specific set of boosts and perks. You may find one more suited to a stealth playstyle, and another that you keep at the ready for when the action gets heavy. The Heroes you’re not using will still provide benefits to you and your alliance. You can assign Hero Cards to other NFTs in the world– like Crafting Stations. In that instance, the Crafting Station would receive a boost scaled by your Hero’s level, among other variables. Having a variety of Heroes provides a multitude of benefits.
If you have multiple matching Hero Cards, you will be able to merge them to increase rarity. Merging three cards of the same hero and rarity will produce a card at the next highest rarity (e.g., three Uncommons would merge to form a Rare).
