May your anchor be tight, your cork be loose, your rum be spiced and your compass be true.

Over the past weeks, the team has carefully considered all options around plans for the Cursed Pirates ‘Summoning Event’ and concluded that the launch would be based on Ethereum instead of Arbitrum. A full breakdown as to how we ended up with this decision and why we think it’s best for Cursed DAO moving forward, details below:

Summary

  • The decision to launch Cursed Pirates on Ethereum — originally Arbitrum.
  • Overview on why the change, including Bueno and Trove.
  • Initial / Future Royalties and SudoSwap.

Launching on Ethereum

Simply put, volume, significant volume. Why is this a priority? It helps with creating a solid DBL base that both DAOs will rely on — if you recall, in our Cursed DAO article (here) — we mentioned how the initial six months of volume would be used to bolster the DBL-WETH liquidity pool on Arbitrum, which in turn will be a direct and positive impact on the value of the bootstrapped DBL.

As we advance, Cursed DAO can look at any initiatives to go deep into Arbitrum… other mints, game-fi, and music; the opportunities are endless! After launch, it will be in the hands of the community and community governance to push any potential ideas or concepts forward.

Bueno

What is Bueno? Incredible tooling that can be used to generate and deploy NFT collections — no code needed. How does it work? Our team uploads our Cursed Pirates assets, plays with rarity, sets rules, previews the pirates, and generates the collection in minutes.

Bueno was used for the Commoners (by commonopoly) mint last month; it’s fantastic for creating more complex rulings around factions & clothing pairs that the team want to include.

The sacrifice here is Bueno is currently not on Arbitrum; there is no ETA; although we could raise it as a feature request, it would most likely delay the mint if we were to wait, which the team was ultimately against.

Trove Listing

Our goal for Cursed DAO from day one was to integrate with Trove — the Treasure team are one of the hardest working in the space, an ethos we share at Galleon despite our size) — since they released Layer1 compatibility, we can still integrate with Arbitrium's (arguably) strongest community, which is pursuing a multi-chain presence, which again is aligned to Galleon’s strategic mission.

Royalties

Royalties for Cursed DAO will be set at 2.5% from the start. Royalties have been an area of debate recently — with SudoSwap’s royalty-free pools — about whether they’re fair and should exist. It’s worth us clarifying here (again) that the royalties will be used to bolster DBL-WETH liquidity for the first six months, which will benefit Cursed DAO. After that period, they will be in complete control of governance, enabled to vote continuation of DBL support, re-directed to the Cursed DAO treasury or removed entirely.

The 2.5% initial parameters are being set by Galleon as a baseline from launch.

Sudoswap Pool

As mentioned above, the team are not ignorant of the rise of SudoSwap and its popularity amongst NFT Traders who want to avoid paying royalties to creators. We understand and make no judgements; however, by design, the royalties for Cursed DAO are used to support both DBL (initially) and the DAO ongoing. Therefore, to reduce potential value (and volume) extraction from the project, the team will set up a dedicated SudoSwap pool post mint. Again, like royalties, any generated volume will be used (for the first six months) to support DBL-WETH and the DAO.

Where can I learn more?

That’s all for now; the team will provide more information nearer to the Summoning Event (NFT Mint). Until then, feel free to join our discord, as the Galleon crew are always there to answer your product and support queries.
