We highlighted some fine points of Rickson’s “Enter the weapons”, Module 2 of the Self.Defense.Unit.

And it’s finally time to enjoy “Enter the Weapons”, Module 2 of Self.Defense.Unit., presented by Jiu-Jitsu Global Federation and War Tribe.

We analyzed firsthand the lessons taught by Master Rickson Gracie, who adds his invisible Jiu-Jitsu to his family’s classic self-defense program.

Among so many fantastic insights provided by him, we set aside the following points:

  • A comprehensive lesson lasting more than ten minutes on how to stay under side control, ready to seize the right moment to reverse the game or restore your guard — or even force matters if your opponent doesn’t move.
  • Both in the guillotine and in the headlock defense, details of connection and weight distribution that make it easier for the student to escape the attack after going to the ground.
  • The back movement that allows for the angle and the more effective positioning to finish via triangle.
  • The whole concept of positioning in side control, where the master explains, in detail, the kind of weight distribution that’s going to annoy the person you’re immobilizing.
  • The introduction to the defense against weapons, which makes understanding levers and weight distribution more fun and gives you a chance in an extreme situation.
  • The use of the knee on belly with effectiveness and aggression, both when passing guard and from the side mount.
  • The body movement that allows you to adjust to your opponent’s attack from behind and spin landing on top, with the bear hug under the arms.
  • The master’s brilliant interpretation of the elbow escape against the mount, completely different from the traditional one.
  • The use of one’s entire body as a block to find the opponent’s weak point in their reactions to the shoulder grip.

Module 2 of Self.Defense.Unit was the last time the classic location of the Gracie Academy in California was used before being sold.

The cinematic production was befitting of the solemn farewell, with the gathering of the biggest experts in Jiu-Jitsu and content on a mission to give the martial arts community the greatest online course in history.

Set for Module 2 and 3 production was the farewell of the classic building of Gracie Academy in Torrance, CA.

Save your seat for the class, which starts on September 3rd.
