The above design with five inspiring words were generated in our Baymax team’s recent half year retrospective when the team discussed what a great software development culture we want to build. We got the conclusions through four steps:
- Everyone wrote down three most important words on post-it.
- We listed all words on the white board.
- Team had good discussion on each word.
- Everyone was given three votes.
Collaboration gets the most voted. Excellence is the 2nd one, and Innovation/Passion/Ownership tie on the 3rd. Our co-op QA engineer Riku made the above nice design using our ACL product color code. We post it on the wall in our seating area, and feel well connected with those words.
Our Baymax team is one of six agile teams in ACL R&D. Our team is like a mini-startup with cross-function roles: four software engineers, two QA engineers, one UX designer, one Product Designer, and one R&D manager. We also have two software engineers in Russia working remotely with us. Our team is responsible for three cloud products: Launchpad, Risk Manager, and ScriptHub.
When we discussed our top three greatest accomplishments in our half year retrospective, the Baymax team name was definitely a part of the list. We are very proud of our team name, because it inspires us to be a hero like Baymax. We have two mascots: The red and well armed one represents that we can get work done efficiently. The other one is white and soft, as we deeply care for our products, our customers, and our team members. We live by our mission: to deliver the beautiful software and help GRC professionals to be most sought-after people in their organization.
