Do you remember how around $58,000 was stolen from the Newdex exchange? Three month passed, but scammers are still using this trick. We decided to show you how they do it and wasted 3 EOS :)
The method is simple. First step is to send small “EOS” amount to account and wait. Our tokensale contract also received some “EOS” this morning.
As our contract is verifying the authenticity of the tokens, nothing happened and Gamblr tokens was not sent to the scammer. But we wondered what would happen next and sent them 3 real EOS back with “Refund” memo, imitating succesfull “vulnerability” exploitation.
As expected, scammers immediately tried to steal our tokens with transferring huge “EOS” amount to a contract, but… nothing happened.
Sorry guys, not this time :)
The vulnerability stems from the EOS platform enabling anyone to make a token calling it whatever they want, including “EOS” apparently
