Nintendo Reveals Their Next Video Game Fitness Craze

Twelve years after the release of the Wii Fit, Nintendo has revealed their next peripheral that aims to make fitness a fun gaming activity.

Ring Fit Adventure will be a new game for Nintendo Switch and will use a new controller called the Ring-Con.

This new controller will attach to the Joy-Con controllers and allow players to explore 20 different worlds, all with the use of motion controls.

The game and peripheral will release on October 18th and will feature a multitude of different quests within the adventure game; players will take part in 40 different “fit skills” that will translate to on-screen running, hovering, attacking, defending, and much more.

Retailer GameStop To Close 200 Stores Due To Financial Problems

GameStop, one of the world’s largest video game retailers, will close up to 200 stores worldwide in order to save money, a recent earnings call has revealed.

During the call, GameStop CFO Jim Bell also said that sales were down 14.3% year-over-year and that the company is currently reporting a Q2 net loss of $415 million.

This is only the latest development in a year of ominous financial news for the company, as earlier this year they laid off over 120 corporate employees and 50 regional district field leaders.

Earlier in January of this year, GameStop failed to find a buyer after a six-month pursuit by the company.

Similarly, UK retailer GAME faced a mandatory buy-out from partner company Sports Direct within recent months and saw share prices drop to 30 pence each.

Despite this, Bell made assurances that 95% of GameStop’s 5700 shops are profitable.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Ships 2.5 Million

Within its first week on the market, Monster Hunter World’s brand new expansion, Iceborne has shipped 2.5 million units worldwide.

Monster Hunter World has already seen massive global success since its release in January of 2018, achieving 13.1 million units shipped — the first title in CAPCOM’s history to achieve this record-high.

Cumulative sales of the series now exceed 58 million units as of September 13, 2019.

With this huge global success, Monster Hunter World has become publisher CAPCOM’s best selling game of all time and has reignited the company to a period of prosperity as they have since released Devil May Cry 5 and Resident Evil 2 Remake, both of which received critical and commercial acclaim.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is available now for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
