Here at Game Loot, we’re looking for insightful and in-depth articles about all things related to video games. In the age of clickbait and review scores, we want to talk about the elements and the magic that makes video games so special.

While we’re not 100% against having reviews on the site, our main focus will be on slightly more in-depth pieces. Is there a certain element of a game (one level, one character, one scene) that interests you? Do you have a personal story that ties into a certain game? These are both excellent examples of content we’re looking for. If you’re not sure what an article like this would look like, please read some of the already published pieces on Game Loot to give you an idea of what we want.

Bottom line: We want unique and diverse viewpoints from the very best gaming writers.

Where to start?

First, you have to get approved as a writer for Game Loot. All I need to add you to the list is your username. If you’re not familiar with what your username is, it will have an @ in front of it. For example, mine is

. Once you have it, comment below with your username or e-mail me at gameloot20@gmail.com. Once you submit your name, we’ll review your profile and make sure you’re a good fit for Game Loot!

Content Guidelines

Once you’ve been added as a writer, you can now submit drafts for publication! Before you send us your piece, here are some important points to remember.

Here’s a big thing: all stories submitted must be unpublished drafts. We have no interest in already published pieces. This is important for publication and article traffic.

All stories must match Medium Guidelines. That includes Rules, the Ad-Free policy, Member Content Guidelines, and the curation guidelines. This is bottom line stuff, and every piece we publish will meet these rules.

We prefer locked content. The Medium Partner Program is important to let our readership grow, and to help your stories reach the widest possible audience.

All stories must be family friendly (no cursing, or questionable content, everything safe for work). Also, please do not use your article to share a bunch of links promoting your latest book or product. Nobody likes spam, so we are avoiding it here. We also only accept non-fiction pieces, so no fan fiction here.

Articles must have at least one quality image. If you pull a photo from somewhere on the internet, it must have proper credit attached to the photo. When in doubt, use a photo provided by Medium or a screenshot that you took while playing whatever game you’re writing about.

Last thing: we reserve the right to reject an article for any reason. It’s nothing personal, but we are trying to provide the best content possible for the people of Medium. If we can provide feedback, we’ll be happy to.

If your piece matches all of the requirements above, you are ready to submit! If you’ve been added as a user, follow the guidance at this link here to submit to us. If you have any questions, feel free to send us a message on Twitter or via e-mail!

We can’t wait to see what stories you have to tell us!
