Hi friends!

We hope you have had a wonderful holiday season and we wish you a fantastic 2019! 🎉

We’d like to thank you all for your support in 2018. We had a great year! This year, Game Makers Iceland hosted 12 events — 15 if you count the ones we co-hosted with our good friends at Icelandic Game Industry! We also took part in sponsoring the first installation of Isle of Games which took place in Iðnó on May 19th.

Global Game Jam — January 26–28 2018 at Reykjavík University

In January, we co-hosted the Global Game Jam at Reykjavík University. We also hosted the Game Makers Iceland summer game jam in June as well as another jam in October. In total, 25+ games were created over the course of these game jams. Big round of applause to all those who participated in our game jams — we can’t wait to see what you come up with in the new year!

Women in Games Iceland — February 22 2018 at Innovation House Reykjavík

In February, we helped Icelandic Game Industry and Nord Girl Network put on the very first Women in Games event in Iceland. The event was very well received and sparked a great conversation! We hope to do something similar again in 2019.

Isle of Games 001 — May 19th 2018 at Iðnó

In May, the first Isle of Games event took place in Iðnó. We were proud to be able to help with this event, which was organized by a diverse group of individuals exploring the intersection between games and art. The group consists of game developers, artists and other people who are passionate about the weird, the beautiful, the artistic and the cultural side of video games and their extended family. We hope to see another installation of Isle of Games in 2019.

Isle of Games 001 — May 19th 2018 at Iðnó

2018 was a great year for the Icelandic game industry at large. We saw several products being released from Iceland based creators and studios:

Starborne (Alpha)
Kards (Alpha)

No Time to Relax (Beta)
In Death
Out of the Loop
Don’t Trip

Game Makers Iceland community

Game Makers Iceland did several other things throughout the year, such as Studio Intros events where we got Iceland based game studios to present themselves and their work to attendees, demo nights where we invited all of you to bring your latest prototypes and works in progress, other talks and workshops! We’d like to thank you all for a great 2018 and here’s to another fantastic year filled with great community events and more games!
